Fuser Assembly functions
Pressure roller
The pressure roller is a sponge roll that guarantees the amount of compression between the fixing rollers. The paper is pressed against the fixing roller by the spring pressure, thereby effectively fixing the toner on the sheet.
Output sensor
The output sensor detects whether the leading edge or trailing end of the paper passes through the pressure roller and the heat roller, which is also used to detect if there is a paper jam in the fuser / eject unit.
Hot roll
The heat roller is heated by a heating fixing lamp mounted in the roller to heat the paper, melt the toner on the paper, and heat on the roll to set the toner on the paper.
Fixing lamp
Fuser heating lamps are generally halogen lamps for heating the fixing roller. The fixing lamp is fixed to the inside of the heat roller, and the fixing lamp is not rotated when the heat roller is rotated.
Thermistor
The thermistor used in the fixing unit of the copier is a thermistor with a negative temperature coefficient, and the resistance of the resistor decreases as the temperature rises. The motherboard uses a thermistor to detect the temperature of the fixing roller and keep it in a specific temperature range. The temperature is between the lower temperature limit resulting in poor fixing and the upper temperature limit that results in the fixing ghost. When the temperature of the fixing roller is lower than the preset temperature, the thermistor will turn on the power of the fixing lamp; when the temperature is higher than the preset temperature, the thermistor will cut off the power of the fixing lamp.
There are some machines where the fuser has two thermistors, one in the middle of the heat roller and one on the side.
The central thermistor is the main thermistor, detects the temperature of the central part of the fixing roller and controls the on and off of the fixing lamp. The side thermistor is the secondary thermistor because the paper does not absorb the paper through the heat roller If the heat is on, both sides of the fixing roller may overheat. The sub-temperature thermistor detects the heating abnormality in the area due to the overheating of the fixing roller. So the thermistor is not used for the temperature control of the fixing roller, only to monitor the fixing roller temperature anomalies.
Fixing thermostat
If the fixing roller causes an abnormal heat due to some problems such as a thermistor fault, the fuser thermostat will automatically cut off the power of the fuser lamp. Play a role in preventing abnormal operation. If it is disconnected, it needs to be replaced, and at the same time the other parts of the fixing unit may be detected and replaced.
Separation claws
In order to separate the paper attached to the heat roller.
